Accommodation tax
Yokohama has no accommodation tax as of 22 October 2026; local media report that the city is considering one. Hotels in Machida and elsewhere in Tokyo charge Tokyo’s tax: ¥100–200 per person per night now, and from 1 April 2027, during the Expo, 3% of the room price when it is ¥13,000 or more per person.
Booking tips
Book early for weekends, Golden Week at the turn of April and May, and the summer holidays. A hotel near a station on the Sotetsu, JR Yokohama or Tokyu Den-en-toshi lines lets you reach a shuttle stop without changing trains.
